Gothamist has an excellent photo tribute to Joe Ades, who famously hawked vegetable peelers from the sidewalks in Union Square. Unfortunately, Mr. Ades died this past Sunday. I’m not ashamed to admit that I shelled out $5 for one of his peelers. Years later, the thing still works as well as the day I bought it.

TL: We do have one thing going at The State. We decided that as we start to die off, the living members will get to dress whoever dies for their coffin. Yeah.
