Gothamist has an excellent photo tribute to Joe Ades, who famously hawked vegetable peelers from the sidewalks in Union Square. Unfortunately, Mr. Ades died this past Sunday. I’m not ashamed to admit that I shelled out $5 for one of his peelers. Years later, the thing still works as well as the day I bought it.
A Public Relations professional, Justin Finnegan's childhood growing up in rural New England served as the inspiration for the classic children's story, Blueberries for Sal -- even though the book's publication predated Mr. Finnegan's birth by 30 years.*
